The Southwest is ruled by the Trigram K'un ('the Receptive'), which represents the nurturing strength of Earth. In Nature, Kun is the primordial source of the tangible world — the Great Mother who gives birth to existence and form, surrendering herself to Creation. In human nature, it is associated with our ability to nurture and care for others, and is therefore deemed the sector of partnerships and marriage. Activating this direction in the home helps to cultivate an atmosphere of gentleness and warmth, and of giving and receiving.
