WHAT
IS FENG SHUI?
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese Earth Science developed to bring people into
harmony with nature, time and space. It incorporates mathematics, astronomy,
geography, the environment and physics. Feng Shui literally means "Wind and Water", and
refers to the flow of energy or Chi.
When the chi of your home or business is not flowing in a
productive way, you may experience relationship problems, a lack of creativity,
illnesses, injuries, or financial trouble. When the Chi of your classroom is
not flowing in a productive way it is more difficult for students to
learn, work and be successful.
Children
The magic of children is the pure and unregulated energy that
dances within them. It is never static. Children are what dreams are made of.
There they are ripe and ready for shaping, poised on the edge of potential and
of course getting ready to fly. Feng Shui can be an ally in aligning that
wonderful energy that teachers and parents can sometimes get so frustrated with.
What Can Feng Shui Do For Your Learning Environment?
Recent Brain Research about how we learn support many of
the Feng
Shui principles mentioned here. I could have easily just called this site Learning
Environments but why not give credit to the art and science that has known
most of these ideas all along - Feng Shui. The ideas mentioned here are
not new they
are just put together in one place. Some of the conditions that are
mentioned here will be out of most educators control. Obviously if you're in
a windowless classroom you can't start knocking down walls measuring for bay
windows. This website however hopes to also identify some of the conditions
that teachers can satisfy themselves, minus the construction crew. If you are
not teaching or learning in a harmonious environment then consider how many hours students spend
in the class room and educators spend even more time there. If you spend 8hrs.
a day X 180 days a year, that's not including workdays then you spend at least
1,440 hrs a year in a harsh environment. Isn't that a big enough part of your
life to make you want to change it for the better?
Will Feng Shui
Interfere with my Religious Beliefs?
No. Feng Shui was
developed by Chinese people who happened to be Buddhists, but it is not related
to any religion or spiritual belief system -- it is an Earth Science. The
underlying principles agree with Quantum Physics and Relativity.
Quantum
Physics?
Now
being an art educator, I am not a quantum physics kind of person but in reading
books like "The Field" by Lynne McTaggart , I find that it is the
scientific proof that some of us needed that Feng Shui works. I use the Time
- Space School of Feng Shui, which states that the chi in different compass
locations varies in its composition and energy levels, yin/yang and the five
elements. Quantum physicists would agree with this and point to
the natural environment, the winds and the weather as the explanation of the
differing electrical charges the subtle vibrations all around us.
